This term is flying by!  It is fun packed and full of new learning.

We are lucky this week as Year 3 have given us an update on their learning!  They have been trying hard and persevering with their column method for subtraction and the teachers have praised them for their amazing efforts.  Also, they have been looking at the artist Van Gogh and researching his artwork. We can’t wait to see their learning progress!  Well done Year Three.

Harefield Primary has just received our Rights Respecting School Silver award! Look out for the banner outside school!

Last November we had an accreditation which included a group of children talking about how our school promoted children’s rights. They talked to an outside assessor about our work in Pupil Voice as well as other school projects that we have been taking part in over the past couple of years. I was extremely proud of our children – they spoke clearly, confidently and passionately about children’s rights. We are now going to be creating an action plan in order to gain our Gold award. This will include looking at our curriculum and empowering our children to try and make local and global changes.  Watch this space for more news and updates of our Rights Respecting journey to Gold!

A huge well done to Mrs Heal and the children for all their work on this!

In the next few weeks, Year 4 will be attending swimming lessons at the local swimming pool and the whole school will be taking part in the Leaders Award ‘If I were an Engineer, what would I do?’.  We can’t wait to meet engineers and find out all about the children’s ideas!

New clubs are due to start soon!  Please keep an eye on newsletters for more information.  We currently run – StreetBeatz, Rock Steady Music, Gantry, Lego club and to add to that recorder, choir and ukulele.

Keep it up Harefield!

Autumn 2 low down!

There was a huge sense of community spirit during this half term and the school was buzzing with lots of events and celebrations.  At Harefield, we try to support our community as much as possible and this year we were able to support over 50 families with our Christmas hamper deliveries.  The school community and lots of staff member’s friends and families donated food, baby items and gifts to make this year’s Christmas Hamper appeal a huge success.  Staff members who got involved and helped, spent hours and hours sorting and fundraising for this and it was great to see so many families benefitting this Christmas. Well done Mrs Cooper and Mrs Court for setting this up for the third year in a row!

We also had a wonderful clothes donation so families were able to kit out themselves and their children in some lovely clothes for free.

The Christmas fair was buzzing and busy! Father Christmas made an appearance and it was fantastic seeing the Harefield Choir perform on the playground.  Thank you to all who came and supported this event. The money we raise will be going towards our new playground equipment!

Not only did we have those two successful events, we also got back to having a Christmas Performance as well.  This was a huge success and showed our children’s talents for acting, singing and dancing.  It was great to see all the children on stage and joining in with the songs and actions.

Thornhill Baptist Church came in and the children learnt all about Christingles and the importance of them to Christians.  The children showed lots of independence and resilience when making their own back in class and were able to take them home to share their knowledge with their families.  We hope you enjoyed eating the sweets!

Finally, we had a special visit from “Santa Ray” (Sustrans Bike It Schools Officer) on his musical, bubble blowing bike, which made everyone we saw smile – thanks “Santa Ray”!

It has been a jammed packed term!  We have all been busy and I know the staff and children deserve some rest, relaxation and family time.  Get ready for an exciting Spring Term with lots more news about the goings on at Harefield.  Hopefully next term we will have some guest writers on the blog, Stay tuned!

23.9.2022 - Volume 2

Since the last blog, there have been lots of exciting things going on and lots of news!

Harefield Primary School welcomed some visitors from the HAMWIC Trust this week.  They said that the children behaved beautifully and were trying very hard with their learning.  Well done to everyone!

We are very happy to welcome the Year R children into Harefield!  It’s there first full week and they have been brilliant. Alongside the new year R children, we also welcomed Miss Millard to the office team!

The first pupil voice meeting took place after the classes voted for their own representative.  Well done to those children and Mrs Heal can’t wait to hear all the suggestions from the class suggestion boxes.

In Year 1 and Year 2, the children talked about saving and spending money with sessions from HSBC! It was really interesting talking about what the children wanted to save for and what they would and wouldn’t want to buy.

We had a whole school assembly from Rock Steady music and the children were very excited whilst hearing guitars, drums and keyboards being played. We can’t wait to hear all the bands in the next few weeks.

This is the second week of our new clubs starting afterschool. The children in drama club looked very engaged in the activities. Tennis club has been happening on a Thursday.  They have been practicing holding a tennis bat and even hitting some tennis balls already! If you have any ideas or know anyone who would like to run a club for our children, it would be great to hear from you!

Want to know what exciting things are happening in the coming weeks? Tune in next time!

7th September 2022 – Volume 1

Welcome to the new Harefield blog! This is the place where you will find out what has been going on and all the wonderful things that the children have been up to.

It has been a very exciting and interesting start to a new year at Harefield Primary School.  The children have settled in well and it’s great to see them back!

The year started with a Welcome Back assembly in the hall – the first time in a long time where we have had the whole school together!  Mrs Millard spoke about New Beginnings being exciting but that they can also make you feel nervous. The children were reminded of our British Values (Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs). We also talked about our School Rules and children remembered, and were able to talk about, the rules confidently and had lots and lots of ideas about what they look like at Harefield!

Our school rules are:

  • We are SAFE
  • We are RESPECTFUL
  • We ACTIVELY LISTEN
  • We WORK HARD and TRY OUR BEST.

Teachers will also be following this up in class this week as they will be making Class Charters with the children.

There are lots of exciting opportunities and events coming up and with the children’s help we will be keeping you up to date on our new blog page.
