At Harefield we believe that the Arts are a fundamental part of the curriculum and define the Arts as; Music, Dance, Drama, Art, Creative writing and Poetry. We believe that the Arts offer opportunities for the children to explore, express and communicate their feelings whilst gaining experiences of the wider world. Carefully planned activities in each year group underpin our Creative Arts curriculum and ensure that children are taught progressively challenging skills throughout their learning journey at Harefield.

The learning in humanity subjects will enable children to deepen their understanding about the natural and human world now and in the past. Every child will be given the tools to develop into enthusiastic confident readers and writers.

At Harefield, we aim to promote the physical, social, spiritual, moral and overall wellbeing of every child. We endeavour to prepare children for the opportunities, responsibilities and challenges of adult life.

Our purpose is to incorporate our school PRIDE values across each of these areas. Our vision is to consider the whole child by placing a high priority on developing pupils’ physical skills, self-esteem and emotional well-being. We encourage them to recognise the importance of pursuing a healthy lifestyle and keeping themselves and others safe. We promote happy, effective relationships that are based on respect for themselves and for others.

We provide our pupils with the essential skills and knowledge they need to become valued, able citizens. Wherever possible we do this by recognising and valuing the pupil’s own experiences and the local context in which they find themselves, using this as a foundation to explore the wider world. This includes promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
